Luke Humphries was crowned the 2025 Premier League champion with a 11-8 victory over Luke Littler at the O2 Arena in London.
In a replay of the 2024 final, Humphries had to grow in the meeting and won Dart with his third game, nailing D10 to claim glory.
It is the first victory for the title of Premier League of Humphries after making his debut in the competition last year before he possibly losing Littler in the final.
By collecting the victory in his second campaign in the Premier League, Humphries added to his illustrious list of titles and now has the “Triple Crown” Darting, having won the World Championship, the world game and the Premier League.
He becomes only the fourth player to complete the company, joining Phil Taylor, Michael Van Gerwen and Gary Anderson in the exclusive list.
The world n. 1 also cuts £ 275,000 in cash prizes and becomes the eighth winner of the competition.
“This means the world for me, that was what I was missing. It was what I wanted, now I did it,” said Humphries Sky Sports.
“If you don’t win another title, I’m happy because I did the three most difficult to do.
“Phil Taylor has given me a lot of support in the last two weeks, so Phil, if you are looking, thanks.
“He gave me many tips and that extra support.”
Humphries the Victor in the last battle with rival Littler
In the 23rd meeting between the two best players of World Darts, Littler headed to the competition with record 13-9 in his favor.
He also had the advantage of having won the title 11-7 of 2024 against his most ferocious rival, hitting a spectacular nine-darter on the road.
Those statistics proved useless during the night, although Humphries did the night at the O2 in London.
With the Arena to Fever Pitch, Littler came out of the doors that flew and reduced to the advantage 3-0 with a real power score.
The shooting breaks were therefore canceled when Humphries grew in the meeting, but also the frustrations increased when the two lukes fought to find the pace, “cool hand” in some way, managing to enter the 5-5 break level.
So the tide turned and Humphries returned out to the area, launching on Littler to immediately break the shot to move 7-5 in front.
Even the eighteen-year-old was finding large numbers and set up his count of 180, but Humphries kept his calm and kept his shot well to get 10-8 and one away from the title he chased.
After losing two arrows, he finally sealed the agreement on D10, adding the Premier League trophy to his cabinet and completing the “triple Crown”.
Humphries keeps outpinall combat
Humphries booked his place in the final with a hard 10-7 victory against a constant combat Nathan Aspinall.
With the Walk-on melodies of “Mr Brightide” and “I foresee a revolt” that helps the crowd to go wild, Humphries and Aspinall spent the exchanges of opening of their meeting that move for the command, two breaks a piece bringing the game to 3-3.
Both Humphries and Aspinall then kept their shot well before the latter hit a punch of suction cup just before the break, eliminating 64 on D16 to break the shot and see them go to the level at 5-5 after 20 legs.
There was nothing that separated the couple as they had an average of over 103 and Aspinall was up to its “fighter” title as it would not have gone away, eliminating a 124 clutch to take it to 7-7.
The crucial moment then arrived in the 15th leg while Humphries lost two to D8 to break the shot, but a rebound on “ASP” peaks allowed him to return, blocking D4 to move 9-7 in front.
This has given the world n. 1 The shot for the game and, under pressure, nailed 87 on D18 to guarantee a revenge of the 2024 final.
A story of two half: Littler fights to beat the price
Littler booked his place in the final producing an increasing return against Gerwyn Price that led him to a 10-7 victory.
With the crowd right behind Littler in the opening semifinal, “The Nuke” and Price started their encounter with the nerves on display, doubled causing problems in the world n. 2 during the opening session.
This led to five launch breaks in the seven legs openings, the prices conquered three, before the Welsh hit a glorious 132 outside the Bull, Bull, D16 which gave him a solid 6-4 advantage to the first break.
However, he became a game of two half while Littler came out after the break in a different area, winning six of the seven legs available and hitting 180 again for fun.
From there, Price had a minimal opportunity for the counterattack and, after breaking Price’s shot for an advantage of 9-7, Littler nailed D16 and issued a roar while he did it from a back-to-back final to O2.
