The UK’s auto industry took a big break from President Donald Trump yesterday afternoon. Trump and British Prime Minister Kier Starge agreed Bilateral Trade Agreement This will reduce tariffs on various imports from the UK, including pharmaceuticals, aluminum, steel, and automobiles.
Currently, the first 100,000 cars coming to the US from the UK are only receiving 10% tariffs, rather than 27.5% since the start of this trade war in April.
“The automotive industry is crucial to the UK’s economic prosperity and maintains 250,000 jobs,” said Adrian Mardell, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover. “We are warmly welcoming this deal to ensure greater certainty for our sector and the communities it supports. We thank the UK and the US government for agreeing to this deal and look forward to continuing involvement over the next few months,” Mardell said.
