Tory Lanez was admitted to the hospital on Monday after an inmate of the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi attacked the rapper around 7:20 a.m., a spokesman for the prison told ABC News.
“The staff replied immediately, activated 911 and started with medical help. Peterson was then brought to an external medical facility for further treatment,” said the spokesman.
The rapper, whose legal name Daystar Peterson is, serves a 10-year prison sentence for shooting and injury to hip-hop star Megan Thee Hengst, whose legal name is Megan Pete in July 2020.
The spokesman for the prison did not provide any further statement when he was asked about the kind of Peterson’s injuries whether he was released from the hospital or whether a suspect was charged with the attack.
Crystal Morgan, a lawyer who represented Peterson, confirmed ABC News that the rapper was attacked in the correctional facility and said that he will continue to be hospitalized from Monday afternoon.
Morgan said she had not received any information about his injuries or his condition and was “in the dark” like everyone else. Morgan added that she called Peterson’s family to inform her about the attack.
The investigative services of the prison and the public prosecutor’s office of the Kern district started an investigation of the incident, while the general inspector’s office was announced, the spokesman said.
ABC News turned to the office of the DA to get additional comments.

Peterson was found guilty on December 23, 2022
In October 2020, he was initially charged in a vehicle for a semi -automatic firearm (personal use of a weapon) and a charged, non -registered firearm in a vehicle.
He was also charged before his legal proceedings in December 2022 because he had an additional number of crimes that unloaded a firearm with gross negligence. Lanez, who did not choose the witnesses during the court proceedings, did not guilty for all three charges.
His defenders argued during the trial that Lanez was not the shooter and he had retained his innocence in several social media posts since his conviction last year.
During his conviction, the public prosecutor read an impact declaration of Pete, which testified during the process in which she asked Peterson to “be forced to face the full consequences of his hideous actions and judicial justice.
“He not only shot me, he mocked about my trauma. He tried to position himself as a victim and set off his character and soul on his way,” said Pete in her effects.
Peterson was denied on September 14, 2023 by a judge of the Supreme Court of Los Angeles County when his legal team filed his 10-year prison sentence.
