Carr’s pension ends a month of uncertainty about its future due to a right shoulder injury in the launch arm. The news of Carr’s accident was made public at the beginning of April before the start of the team’s out of season training program, but Carr and the saints had been publicly calm on the details until Saturday.

In a statement, New Orleans said that Carr tried pain in the right shoulder at the end of March after his first significant session of the low season. The saints said that the scans determined that Carr had a labraral tear and “significant degenerative changes to his rolling bracelet”.
According to the team, surgery was an option, but this would have endangered its 2025 season with a possibility that Carr would never return to his previous level of strength and function. Carr said he decided to retire instead after consulting his wife Heather.
“For more than 11 years, we have been incredibly blessed and we are forever grateful and humiliated by this experience,” Carr said in a note. “It is difficult to find the right words to express our thanks to all teammates, coaches, management, properties, team officials and in particular fans who made this journey so special. Your unwavering support has meant the world for us.”
Carr released another statement on his Instagram account on Saturday afternoon thanking his former team, the Raidersand the saints, together with their fan bases.
“Through everything, I gave this game everything I had every day. I sleep well knowing that I gave my teammates, my coaches and my cities,” wrote Carr. “Now, I can’t wait for God to have after and I will pursue him with the same fire that I brought to the field. God bless you and see you soon.”
Moore said that New Orleans discovered the injury in March before the news was made public in early April. However, the general manager Mickey Loomis declared before the draft that the saints were looking for “a resolution and clarity” on the question of the shoulder in the near future.
Moore said Saturday which meant clarity on the injury himself and not for a communication problem.
“He did everything possible,” said Moore. “As he crossed it, he communicated very well. He worked hard for himself in position, and in the end this was the result.”
Carr’s first public comments arrived at the end of April, when he confirmed that he had a shoulder injury and rejected the speculations on the matter, saying that he and the team had been in “constant communication”.
Moore said that he and Carr lost the meeting in person because he was in a professional day in which Carr was in the structure at the beginning of the low season. He said Carr has had several discussions with the team front office in the last few days.
“He spoke mainly with Mickey and those boys while we have gone through this process, and obviously in the last few days they have had those communications and conversations and have made a whole decision that seemed better for him,” said Moore.
Carr, a choice of the second 2014 Rounders of the Raiders, retires after 11 seasons. He spent the first nine seasons of his career with Raiders before signing a four -year contract for a value of up to $ 150 million with New Orleans during the 2023 free agency period.
At the end Carr will not see all $ 150 million, since this year he will lose his basic salary of $ 30 million due to his retirement, even if he maintains the bonus of the $ 10 million roster for 2025.
Carr was enrolled by Dennis Allen when Allen was a Raiders coach. He met with Allen in 2023, when Allen was training his saints.
The 34-year-old started 169 games for the two teams and ends with a record of 77-92 as an appetizer. It completed 65.1% of its passages for 41,245 yard, 257 touchdown and 112 interceptions.
