A jet stream above the Gulf of Mexico will probably reach an area that he usually did not hit: the Southeast of the United States.
From Monday and Tuesday, widespread rainfall in the region could lead to 4 to 6 inch rain, the National Weather Service said. Isolated spots are expected to see up to 12 inch rain.
Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina are expected to see the most effects of the atmospheric river.
The probability of rain in the area “will increase later this weekend, with the potential for strong precipitation from Monday to Tuesday, which could lead to flooding”, “flooding”, “flooding”, ” The NWS said early Saturday.
An atmospheric river is essentially a concentrated water vapor area that transports large amounts of water through the sky.
They usually come from the Gulf of Mexico or the Caribbean and end up in the western USA, but this time not.
“California receives a lot of precipitation from them in winter,” said Andrew Hazelton, Associate Scientist at the University of Miami, where he works with Noaa.
But it is not uncommon for atmospheric rivers to land in areas outside of California, he said. According to Hazelton, they usually appear because of a “cutoff deep” – when the jet current is cut off from the Gulf of Mexico or the Caribbean. This limit leads to a distraction. It turns the jet stream into a closed low-pressure system. Where many events of the atmospheric river met directly from east to west, the closed low -pressure routes to the east starts.
This southeastern event could help certain areas in which the youngest droughts can be seen, said the scientist.

Certain areas in Florida, including central florida, had a dry winter and experience a drought. The hard cold season could make up for more precipitation in these places.
“If you get too much rain in a short time, it can be a threat to floods and flood of falls,” said Hazelton. “So I would keep an eye on it, but hopefully it will be more advantageous.”
According to the Hazelton, small streams, streams and low areas could see a little additional water.
For areas that are susceptible to floods, the same precautionary measures are still standing for any other high awards.
“Always remember to turn around, not to drown,” said Hazelton about the atmospheric event, which could lead to floods in certain areas. “If you are traveling by chance and there is a flood of falls, don’t try to go through it – because that’s the matter. Only a few centimeters of water can hit your feet. Be sure and stay on the high floor until the water subsides.”
