Last month, Meta held its first Generation AI Developer Conference. Lamaconwas planning to release a large-scale language model of “Behemoth.” Instead, the company pushed its release in June, but now a new report suggests it could slip even further – since the fall.

The concern is brewing
Large-scale Language Models (LLMS) Power AI chatbots such as CHATGPT, GEMINI, META AI handle prompts on the spot and generate human-like text accordingly. Behemoth, called “one of the smartest people in the world” as the “most powerful yet” LLM of Meta, is intended to serve as the “teacher” of future models. That’s the public story. Within the meta, engineers are reportedly worried that the Giants will not offer sufficient improvements over existing models to “justify” their public release. Please note: Meta released Llama 4 in April. (Llama stands for Meta AI for large-scale language models, and is Meta’s LLMS family.) Until now, two small Llama 4 variants, Scout and Maverick, have been available, with Meta pulling another lightweight version.

AI race is authentic
Meta integrates AI capabilities across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger, allowing you to do draft posts, captions, and more, customize chat backgrounds, and even edit images. At the end of April, the company also launched a standalone meta AI app. However, the Giants’ continued delays highlight the challenges that the meta still faces in order to accommodate Openai and Google.

Ultimately, competitors are shipping new releases at Breakneck Speed, but Meta still appears to be doing the already announced LLM improvements and training, but now it’s repeatedly behind.
