Manchester United is in the final of the Europa League final when a 4-1 victory over the Atletica club completed an aggregate victory for 7-1.
Mikel Jaureguer’s first half goal had given athletic hope, but Mason Mount came out of the bench to arrange the nerves united before the goals of Casemiro, Rasmus Hojlund and a second of over 40 Mount Iavs have earned a nice victory at Old Trafford.
The result creates a completely English final in Bilbao on May 21 after Tottenham’s victory over Bodo/Glimt in the other semifinal. A difficult season for both premier League clubs will end with one of them who has secured a place in the Champions League next season.
As the Utd man turned out at night
Much of the work had been done in Bilbao, United ensuring that advantage of three apparently unassailable goals. With the Williams brothers – Nico and Inki – both not available for this return match to Manchester, the feeling was that Atletico was missing the necessary fire power.
But this is united. While they found a lot of space behind from the beginning, they were expensive. Patrick Dorgu and Alejandro Garnacho were the main culprits and the Basque side pointed them when Mikel Jaureguar curled up for a long range to pull back.
Harry Maguire lost his possession too easily, while Andre Allana put his hand to the shot but he was unable to hold him out. He encouraged fans of the voice to believe that an improbable return was active and Garnacho was missing one by one he did nothing to dissipate the idea.
Athletic was dreaming well in the second half, but Ruben Amorim’s replacements changed the game. Amad Diallo provided the striker’s momentum, but was the quality finish of the mountain that concluded the hopes of the side of Ernesto Valverde, transforming and skilfully shooting into the distant corner.
The header of Casemiro turned him around the night before another brilliant Amad race put a goal on a plate for Hojlund. Mount had the last word, ending magnificently remotely with his weakest left foot after a poor authorization from the Atletico goalkeeper.
He closed a special evening at Old Trafford, another for them in this competition. Also in these times troubled for United, the trophies have continued to come. Last season, it was the England Cup. Now I’m just a game from Bilbao’s European argentoria.

Mount had never scored for United at Old Trafford before this game, his only previous goals for the club arriving in Brentford. These two were special, the first for its importance at the moment and second to be illuminated every evening.
“It was difficult with the injuries, but I continued and made its fruits,” Mount said Sport TNT.
“We knew it would be difficult at the beginning of the game. Getting that goal to make us calm 1-1. It has passed too long [since I had a feeling like this]. I just tried to come and influence the game.
“The crowd was incredible. For me personally, my first goals at Old Trafford. Night Special, one for which I waited a long time. We want to go to Bilbao and end up strong now.”

“I am very happy for Mason Mount, he is one of my excellent friends in this team. He is a good boy, he always works very hard.
“He got a lot of stick because he had many injuries, but it was positive and tried to always get fit.
“He only had one goal, that was to go back to the field. He did what he did today, we knew he had the quality. It was almost time.”

Amorim greets the impact of subtitles
“Amad gave us this spark that you have to change the games,” said Amorim Sport TNT.
“Monte Mason, I am so happy for him, he is such a player. He works hard. He has quality. I really like Kobbie Maineus, only 10 minutes on the field, but everything he has done was really good.
“Sometimes you are on the bench, but change the game.
“It is difficult to describe how a manager is in this type of club. You want to give something to fans, because we were so disappointing in the Premier League this season.
“It is more important to give fans something, than adding something [to my CV] as a winner. “
Valverde: Walk in the park at the end
“Games last 90 minutes,” said Coach Atletico Valverde. “You have to be there for 90 minutes, especially against the teams that will not allow you. It was a wide score.
“We felt as if we had had the opportunity when it was 1-0, it was nice to go on. They marked a goal in a key moment, but we were not so bad. It was almost a walk in the park for them in the end. Take away those last minutes, it was much more uniform.”
