College Park, Md. – Kermit the Frog knows that it is not easy to be green – or to complete the college and enter the real world, especially in a time of economic uncertainty and political turbulence.
The members of the class of Maryland at the University of Maryland 2025 received their diplomas with wise advice from the amphibious muppet on Thursday evening, which rang in their ears.
“If you prepare for making this big leap into real life, you will find a little advice here – if you are ready to listen to a frog,” said the loved one. “Instead of jumping over someone to get what you want, think about whether you get out of your hand and take the shot aside, because life is better if we jump together.”
The university announced in March that Kermit, which was founded in 1955 and became the heart of the Muppets franchise, would be this year’s opening spokesman. He is also not a stranger at school.
The Muppets creator Jim Henson completed in Maryland in 1960. As a housekeeping major, he put the original frog doll from one of the coats of his mother and a bishop’s ball in half. Henson died in 1990.

A bronze statue from Henson and Kermit sitting on a bench is a well -known feature of the College Park Campus.
In a video in which the speaker selection is announced, Kermit is described as an environmentalist, a bestselling author, an international superstar and an advocate of creativity, friendliness and belief in the impossible.
His spokesman Bio calls him “a star of the stage, screen and swamp”, whose simple mission it is to “sing and dance and make people happy”.
“I am thrilled that our graduates and their families experience the optimism and the insight of the world -famous Kermit The Frosch in such a meaningful time in their lives,” said University President Darryll J. Pines in a statement.
