Davide Frattesi’s extra-time lens decided a Champions League semifinal for the centuries while Inter beat Barcelona 7-6 in aggregate after a 4-3 second victory at San Siro.
The midfielder made the house in the first half of the 30 minutes more, climbing at the top of the metal barriers to celebrate with the exulting fan – and raised – at home and the limit of an incredible European meeting that will go down in history.
It was a draw that designed the level as a semifinal with the highest score in Liverpool and the Thriller 7-6 in Rome in 2018-E had fun again after a 3-3 tie at the Olympic Autodio de Montjuic last week.
The second leg also followed a similar scheme. Inter took a 2-0 advantage at first half, with Lautaro Martinez – who had been a doubt for an injury until last Tuesday – ending a nice team move.
Then came the first dispute of the evening. Pau Cubersi is believed that he touched the ball before while challenged Martinez in the box from the referee Szymon Marciniak, who agitated any internal requests away.
However, after a VAR revision and the referee who consulted the PitchSide monitor, that decision was canceled and Inter was assigned the penalty, with Martinez deemed to have touched the ball in front of the defender.
Hakan Calhanoglu sent the former Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny in the wrong way and put the hosts in what seemed to be full control.
But Barcelona was a different perspective after the break and, within six initial minutes, they were at the level. Eric Garcia flew to the first, before Dani Olmo could feed a header at home to do 2-2 in the night.
The side of Hansi Flick had yet to lead to the tie, but in the end his nose blocked in front of the 87th minute. Raphinha saw his first effort saved by Yann Sommer, but was prepared for the rebound that curled up in the distant corner.
But that advantage lasted for all five minutes while the 37 -year -old Francesco Acerbi transformed the ball at home for his first European goal to send the game in extra time.
Inter also had the last voice of a fascinating semifinal of the Champions League, reaching the Shoppece final for the second time in three years.
