1,788 out of the total 2,500 job seekers enrolled themselves at the mega job mela organised by the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) in Srikalahasti town on Tuesday. While 712 candidates received job offers from 35 reputed companies, 305 were shortlisted for the further rounds.
Srikalahasti MLA Bojjala Venkata Sudheer Reddy, who took up the initiative to boost employment opportunities in his constituency, personally handed over offer letters to the selected candidates. The event was attended by district Collector S. Venkateswar, Superintendent of Police (SP) V. Harshavardhan Raju and A.P. Yadava Corporation chairman G. Narasimha Yadav, among others.
The MLA appreciated the companies for their gesture and thanked them for reaching out to the qualified rural youth. Unveiling his vision for an ‘Unemployment-free Srikalahasti’, he assured to conduct skill development programmes for those requiring upskilling and also organise similar job melas in future.
Tributes offered
Paying tributes to his father and former Cabinet Minister Bojjala Gopalakrishna Reddy on his birth anniversary, Mr. Sudheer Reddy promised to carry forward the ‘Bojjala legacy’. Several veteran politicians recalled the senior Bojjala’s bonding and affection with the people of the constituency.
Referring to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s directive to hold job melas at the district-level, Collector Mr. Venkateswar announced that Tirupati district had conducted the highest number of job melas so far. He referred to the huge employment potential in store, thanks to the presence of Sri City, Mambattu and Naidupeta SEZ, Vizag Chennai Industrial Corridor (VCIC) and Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC).
